Toyota’s new entrant in the C segment is the Yaris sedan and it will challenge popular models like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Toyota is essentially a luxury carmaker in India, though it launched Etios twins long back in emerging markets like India. However, the Etios twins failed to gain traction. Now, with the Yaris, Toyota is expecting to see impressive sales performance in the country. This midsize sedan fills the void between the Etios sedan and Corolla. The Toyota Yaris comes priced between Rs. 8.75 lakh and Rs. 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom).

It gets high-mounted sharp headlamps with projector units and LED DRL, chrome garnished front grille, arched roof and the large black air-dam inject a sporty flair in the sedan. The Toyota Yaris clearly resembles with the Toyota Corolla.

Toyota Yaris comes available with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder dual VVTi petrol engine. The company has given a miss to the diesel powered Yaris. In terms of output, the petrol engine is expected to make 106 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed CVT as well.
