Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon adorns the company’s IMPACT 2.0 design language and the front of the Nexon has been redone which helps it to look even more muscular. The bonnet has been raised up and flattened while the front grille, now being more upright, which makes the Nexon look more like a full-size capable serious SUV.  The front Daytime-Running Lamps come with a new design and the projector sleek headlamps also comes with while flaunting LED daytime running lamps (DRLs). The SUV also gets fog lamps at the front as well as rear. There would be turn indicators at the piano black finished ORVMs, while it would be available in dual-tone paint scheme with a contrasting roof. The side profile also consists of 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, shark-fin antenna and roof rails. The A-pillar and C-pillar have been blacked out for floating roof design.  At the rear, you get horizontal “Y” shaped LED taillights The Nexon, accentuating the sportiness, also gets stylish roof rails and a rear defogger. The roof-line of the Nexon has been given a coupe-inspired look which enhances the side profile while keeping the SUV practicality. Nexon also features automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and follow me headlamps. In addition, a dual-tone variant with a black roof is on offer with Moroccan Blue & Vermont Red colours.

The interior cabin is finished in a three-tone theme. Inside the cabin, there are bucket seats at the front and 60:40 foldable cushion slip seat at the rear with adjustable head restraints. Other features include automatic climate control with rear air vents, all four power windows with auto-down with driver side, reverse parking sensors, reverse camera, front armrest with storage space, rear armrest with cupholders, 7-inch floating Harman ConnectNext infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The touchscreen infotainment system is connected to the 8-speaker sound system which is also sourced from Harman. Tata also offers a voice commands system that has been specially tuned to understand Indian accents and connected car features through an application on your mobile phone. Through the application, you can track your car, remotely control the various functions of the car, get an intrusion alert and get a live diagnostic report. The driver gets cruise control, smart key with push-button start/stop and a multi-function steering wheel. Premium touches include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome finish on the air vents, leather-wrapped gear knob and fabric insert on the door trims. The interior is quite practical with cup holders in every door, umbrella holders in the front doors, multi-utility glovebox and cooled and illuminated glove box. What’s new with a facelift is a digital instrument cluster with multi-information display and a flat-bottom steering wheel. The electric sunroof and dual-tone interior open up a sense of airiness in the cabin. Tata Nexon boot space is 350-litre, which can be increased up to 690-litre with a 60:40 rear split seat. Some of the unique features of that Nexon come with are a wearable key, Xpress Cool and voice alerts for door open, low fuel, seat belt reminder and much more.

Tata Nexon specs come in both petrol and diesel fuel trims. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged Revotron engine which develops maximum power of 110PS @ 5000rpm and peak torque of 170Nm between 1750-4000rpm. On the other hand, the diesel variants get a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged Revotorq engine which belts out 110PS @ 3750rpm and 260Nm between 1500-2750rpm. Both the engines are linked to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT transmission with three drive modes: Eco, City and Sport. The engines are also now BS6 compliant, so that they emit less pollution than before.

Tata Nexon comes packed with a plethora of safety features such as dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Program, Immobilizer and Seatbelt with pretensioners and load limiters as standard. The high-end variants also come with rear parking sensors and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines, Front fog lamps with cornering assistance, rear fog lamps and speed-dependent auto door lock features. Moreover, Tata has loaded the SUV with Traction control, Rollover Mitigation, Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Hold Control, Electronic Brake Pre-fill and Brake Disc Wiping. All of these safety features enhance the safety quotient of the Nexon. It is also important to note that the Nexon was rated five stars in the Global NCAP crash test and also comes with Tyre Pressure Monitoring System that shows the current tyre pressure to the driver in the multi-information display.

The performance from the engines is quite linear as the torque has been spread pretty widely across the rev range. The diesel feels more powerful due to the healthy dose of torque that it comes with. The handling of the Nexon is quite good and predictable. The refined NVH levels further accentuate the driving pleasure. Tata Nexon ground clearance is 209mm which is more than enough to tackle potholes of our roads.

Tata Nexon petrol mileage delivers an ARAI-Specified fuel economy of 17kmpl, while the diesel returns an impressive 21.50kmpl. However, the mileage of the SUV depends on the driving conditions and driving habits of the driver. Tata Nexon fuel tank capacity is 44-litres.
