INTRODUCTION
The high-octane adrenaline junkies across the nation felt overwhelmed with joy when Nissan finally granted their wish by bringing in the Nissan GT-R to the Indian shores. Being fondly addressed as the ‘Godzilla,’ Nissan GT-R has gone on sale in the Indian market for the first time ever. The Nissan GT-R variant presented in the country is the European spec Premium Edition. It originally broke cover at the New York International Auto Show in March 2016, with fresh styling and an updated cabin. The driving dynamics were improved too for enhanced performance.
Nissan has positioned the GT-R as a halo product in its portfolio, while it would be retailed as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit). It will be sold exclusively through the Nissan Dealership in Noida, National Capital Region (NCR). Nissan GT-R would challenge the likes of Audi R8 V10 Plus, Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari LaFerrari in the Indian market. Just so you know, the 2017 Nissan GT-R is produced at Nissan’s state-of-the-art plant in Tochigi, Japan. Nissan GT-R price, as vastly expected, is Rs. 1.99 Crore (Ex-Showroom) in the Indian market.
EXTERIOR
Nissan GT-R images reflect that it flaunts the Japanese automaker’s latest design language with automatic multi-LED headlamps and the new matte chrome finish V-Motion grille, which has been enlarged to provide better engine cooling and now comes with an updated mesh pattern. Adding to the Nissan GT-R exterior is a new bonnet, flowing from the grille.
Coming to the rear end, it boasts of the hallmark four-ring taillights, which have been slightly tweaked to further improve the air flow. Also, the belt line that separates the lower black section from the body panel has been heightened to make the car look wider and more aggressive at the rear. Besides giving the GT-R a belligerent appearance, the company engineers have emphasized on making it the most aerodynamic supercar with a drag coefficient as less as possible. In India, Nissan GT-R colours available are Katsura Orange (new for 2017), Vibrant Red, Pearl Black, Pearl White, Racing Blue, Gun Metallic and Ultimate Silver.
INTERIOR
Nissan GT-R 2017 comes with an advanced, contemporary and premium interior cabin. Step inside, and you won’t be disappointed as the entire dashboard and instrument panel are new and covered with high-quality leather artfully stitched together with TAKUMI precision. The Nissan GT-R interiors can be availed in four shades: Red, Tan, Ivory and Black. The dashboard has a “horizontal flow” shape in order to deliver a sense of high stability for the car’s front-seat occupants. The central layout of the dash has also been worked upon and improved. There are merely 11 switches in the new GT-R as compared to the previous model’s 27 switches.
The Nissan GT-R features include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with new Display command control comes as standard fitment on the centre console. In addition, an 11-speaker Bose audio system with dual subwoofers is also available as standard. The steering wheel houses new paddle shifters and ventilation controls, which come with improved feel and better sound when engaged or adjusted.
ENGINE & PERFORMANCE
The Nissan GT-R specifications were already revealed during the world premiere in March. It is powered by the award-winning 3.8 L V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine. Each unit of the aforementioned engine has been handcrafted by the TAKUMI technicians. It develops a top power of 565 bhp at 6800 rpm and peak torque of 637 Nm. It is coupled with a thoroughly-refined 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, while the engine noise is also upgraded and it has never sounded better. The GT-R features two of the most advanced All-Wheel Drive and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) systems, which transmit the power evenly to the front and rear axles. It does the 0-100 kmph sprint in less than 3 seconds, while having a top speed of 315 kmph.
The Nissan GT-R mileage has not been revealed by the company, but it is expected to return around 5-6 kmpl.
Unarguably, the GT-R has been a spontaneous performer right from its inception. But with the 2017 model, Nissan has taken its performance to a whole new level. The supercar has superior acceleration in the mid to high-ranges (3200 rpm and above) due to individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders and extra boost from the turbochargers. Its cornering abilities have become even better. A more rigid body structure and new suspension result in better stability through quick lateral transitions and higher overall cornering speed, revealed Nissan GT-R reviews.
BRAKING AND SAFETY
Nissan GT-R comes with several first-grade safety features, such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Traction Control System (TCS), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), 6 airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, etc., to name a few.
CONCLUSION
The Nissan GT-R price in India is Rs. 1.99 Crore (Ex-Showroom) and needless to say, it would have extremely limited buyers. It is a true supercar in every sense and a halo product in Nissan’s product portfolio in India. If, somehow, the company manages to retail the supercar in double digits in the country, it would indeed be a feat in itself.

Need Improvement
When buying a new car in general one must look for things like body panels that are out of line, or load bearing beams that seem to have been damaged. The next thing to check whether the paint is original or it has been repainted, a quick check under concealed plastic panels is a great way to check for unmatched paint. Another thing to check for is underbody rust in humid or sea adjacent areas.
A good way to check if the car has been rear-ended is by checking the boot. Flip open the spare wheel cover and remove the wheel completely. If the car was repaired after an accident the floor will have visible signs as the surface wouldn’t be smooth as it would in an undamaged car.
In the end, always remember to check for complete documentation including service records. Also, do check with the insurance company for any past claims, which will make you aware of the accidents the car has been involved in. Last but not the least, get the car checked from a trusted workshop before closing the deal.
