The front fascia of the WagonR features a new headlamps, larger bumpers and a new front grille. The ?tall boy? signature stance and sloping roof-line gives it a better appearance compared to it box-like appearance in its predecessors. Although the car is little more curvy and slanting at certain places, the overall design and looks remain the same.
The headlamps feature a blue indicator, which adds to the newness of the car. The car also features a sleek bonnet and a much tilted windshield.
The car is equipped with tubeless tyres with tyre rating of 155/65R14 for VXI and 145/80R13 for LXi and LX.

The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R retains its tall boy design. The car has gained dimensions and is longer, wider and taller compared to the outgoing model. The front end of the car now gets LED DRLs while the rear is offered with vertically stacked tail lamps that look impressive. One might see mixed reactions on the design of the new Wagon R and the styling is clearly love it or hate it.

Maruti Suzuki has refurbished the interiors a little. It includes ? new fabric upholstery on the seats, there are enough pockets and spaces to store small packages, the improved HVAC cools the cabin fast, the car has even got larger windows, both front and rear, and the passengers get ample headroom in both the rows. Although the quality of plastic and the fabric used for the interiors is better than the outgoing model but the quality could have been better. Even the boot capacity is smaller than the outgoing model.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R now feels more premium and upmarket. The prime highlight is the new touchscreen infotainment system that supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard gets a dual tone treatment that enhances the overall appeal.

The new Wagon R now comes with a new and improved all aluminium 1.0L 3-cylinder K-series MPFI petrol engine, which comes mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission or an Auto Gear Shift technology. The manual petrol engine produces a maximum power of 68Ps and a peak torque of 90Nm, while the petrol AGS unit offers a power of 67Ps and a peak torque of 90Nm; giving the mileage of 19.3kmpl and 20.51kmpl, respectively. It is the same engine as that of the A-star and the Zen Estillo. The CNG variant feature the same engine and produces 59Ps of power and 77Nm of torque, giving a mileage of 26.6km/kg.
The model features ABS with EBD (optional) and the latest emission norms have also been considered.
The wide windshield gives a better view of the road. The suspensions have been improved, resulting to a smoother drive. But, it may feel a little bumpy around sharp corners because of the tall stance, whereas, Hyundai Santro despite having a tall stance, is easily manageable in such scenarios.
The better shifting gear box ? which now comes with a cable-type mechanism), light clutch and the ergonomically shaped gear lever add up to making driving in the city traffic, a comfortable experience.
And to top it all, Maruti?s amazing after-sales service quality and network is another plus point with the car. But, sales only through Nexa outlets, has put a limit on the sales numbers.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R are two engine options. While the 1.0-litre three cylinder engine is good for producing respective power and torque outputs of 67 bhp and 90 Nm, the bigger 1.2-litre four cylinder motor puts out 82 bhp and 113 Nm.

The WagonR comes with a unique ABS with EBD, an Intelligent Computerized Anti-theft Security system (iCAT), and dual SRS front airbags providing optimum safety for both the driver and passenger upon impact or collision. Provided all these safety features are optional and only for the top-end trim, VXi; except the iCAT system which comes as standard for the VXi trim.

• Maruti Suzuki Wagon R gets a standard driver airbag, speed alert system, front seat belt reminders and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD as standard across all the variants. Apart from this, one will also get reverse parking sensors as standard across the variant range.

When compared with its predecessor, the new WagonR is improved in terms of looks, interior space, dashboard, dual tone interiors and the new K-series engine which delivers smoother and better performance.
Apart from some shortcomings, like the not-so-premium quality plastic and fabric used for the interiors, high NVH levels entering the cabin and the smaller boot; this car is worth considering if you want a family car.
