Kia Seltos as its first product, Kia has earned its goodwill and a reputed market share among consumers. India being infamous for huge families, Kia grabbed this opportunity ti shift its focus from SUVs to an MPV called the Carnival. This resulted a great beneficiary for the Indian market due to its luxurious seating capacity.
Now Kia’s full focus is to build its brand’s sales by launching sub-compact SUVs to deter people from Hyundai Venue and the Tata Nexon. Even after being the biggest market for hatchbacks, Indians are now shifting towards SUVs due to their versatile looks and performance.

Since, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta are equipped with the same powertrains, we are expecting Kia Sonet to have the same engines that are available with Hyundai Venue.
Keeping the price bracket and features in mind, it is expected from the Kia Sonet to be another volume seller in Indian market. After the success of Seltos and Carnival, Kia Sonet is set to be the third model from the South Korean carmaker. It is also the second ‘Made-in-India’ model, manufactured at the company’s facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.
Kia Sonet design
Unlike other carmakers, Kia has not just shrunk-down Seltos for giving rise to Sonet. Kia Sonet features an all together different set of design approach.
Along with sleek headlamps on the front, it comes with a proper SUV stance. In order to give a character to the car, it features a dominant wheel arches. It also has a lot of shiny chrome around the grille which has a honeycomb design. Below these honeycombed grille there are massive air vents which are aggressive styled on the front.
At the rear, the tail-lights have an LED strip that adjoins them. Apart from few minor its and bits of details, Kia Sonet is expected to be launched just as same as the car showcased in the Auto Expo 2020 leaving a few minor details. The Sonet will be based on the same platform as the Hyundai Venue.
Engine and transmission
This time Kia is expected to launch its Sonet with three different engine options. Among these three, 2 of them will be different engines that are available in petrol. This will include a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol that is good for 83bhp and a 1.0 litre turbocharged petrol putting out 120 bhp. The third one will be 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine putting out 90 bhp. There is speculation of an AMT model offer in the higher variants along with a five-speed manual as standard.

The car is supposed to be loaded with features as it aims to attract existing as well as new buyers to the company. Therefore, it comprises exquisite features such as 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with OTA updates, vertical outer-end AC vents with silver trim, silver grab rails on the centre console, rear AC vents, Bose Sound System, ventilated front seats and more.
The automobile geeks are contemplating that there will be a number of connected car features in this SUV, one of which will be vehicle theft notification.
Kia Sonet Price
Kia Sonet is expected to be launched in a price range between Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom).
