The next-generation Honda HR-V has been revealed which is way more different than its previous version. With more sporty and edgy stance, it comes with some classic HR-V features sprinkled about. 2021 Honda HR-V: Exterior
This time styling of the new HR-V (Vezel) has been kept way to different from its predecessor even tough it features some of that SUV-coupe look. On a single glance, one can claim that, majority of its design has a been inspired from Honda SUV concept from the 2020 Beijing motor show.
The new HR-V’s upright nose gets a bold grille finish and is available in two design options. With a goal of looking different from its previous version, it notably misses its thick band of chrome that decorated the front. The grille is flanked by sleek LED headlamps with LED DRLs. Along with pronounced upper lip to the central air-dam, the bumper of 2021 Honda HR-V features a skid plate and wide set fog-lamps.
Just like its previous-ten model, the door handle continues to be located in the SUV’s window line behind the rear windows. Finishing off a neat look at the rear is a roof mounted spoiler along with a new tail-lamps with an LED light bar which merges into the central Honda logo on the tailgate and a faux rear skid plate.
2021 Honda HR-V: Interior
On the inside of the new 2021 Honda HR-V, the dashboard features a layered design which has a leather inserts running across the fascia dividing the unit in two. Giving a luxurious and classy look is a free-standing central touchscreen which comes packed with the brand’s Honda Connect connected car tech.
The Air-con controls are similar to those on the new fifth-gen Honda City. It feature lower down on the centre console. One of the highlight design element is the faux vent, running along the passenger side of the dashboard. It also incorporates a unique feature which is the rotary control to control the way the air flows via the side vents on either corner of the dashboard.
2021 Honda HR-V: Safety and technology
Apart from the regular safety features such as a panoramic sunroof, LED headlights, auto climate control, hands free tailgate, heated seats, the new 2021 HR-V also incorporates the latest Honda Sensing safety kit. This include a misstep collision mitigation system that sounds an alert and automatically applies the brake should the car detect that the driver has accidentally set-off into the path of an obstacle. Moreover, it has an adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection and avoidance, collision mitigation braking, lane hold assist and traffic sign recognition.
2021 Honda HR-V: Engines and powertrain options
One of its kind, the new HR-V comes with a conventional petrol and a dual-motor petrol-electric hybrid powertrain option. The conventional petrol model will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine which will be paired with a CVT gearbox. On the other hand, the hybrid will be paired with the internal combustion petrol engine along with two electric motors and an on-board battery pack to offer you driving in pure electric, hybrid and engine power modes.
Both of your standard petrol and the hybrid are offered in front and all-wheel drive configurations.
There are speculation of the same in the petrol-hybrid e-HEV setup from the ASEAN-spec Honda City also which is further expected to make it to the HR-V in some markets.
